A drag-and-drop recycling game

Sort Trash is a 60-second drag-and-drop game. One item appears in the middle of the screen. The player drags it into one of three bins, compost, recycle or landfill, before the clock or their three lives run out.

Every correct sort scores points, and a run of correct sorts adds a streak bonus. A wrong bin costs a life and the game shows the right answer, so people pick something up even when they miss. Rounds are short, so a line of visitors can all take a turn.

It plays in a portrait window in any phone or desktop browser. We reskin it with your logo, colors, tagline and item art. The results screen tracks a personal best, which gives players a reason to go again.

Why Sort Trash works at events

The game is simple to start, and it gets harder as the player gets better. That keeps beginners and repeat players both in the game.

Easy to learn in seconds

Drag one item to one of three bins. The how-to screen is six short lines, and players are in the game after a 3-2-1 countdown.

Difficulty ramps up on its own

The first 15 seconds use easy items only. Medium items join at 15 seconds and tricky ones at 35, so the game keeps pace with the player.

Players learn as they play

Miss a bin and the right one lights up, with a message naming the correct answer. The results screen ends with a "Did you know?" tip.

Quick rounds keep lines moving

A run ends at 60 seconds or after three wrong bins, whichever comes first. Streak bonuses and a personal best make people want another go.

How to play Sort Trash

  1. Drag the item

One item appears in the middle of the screen. Press and drag it with a finger or a mouse.

  2. Drop it in the right bin

Pick compost, recycle or landfill. A correct drop scores points, and a wrong bin costs one of your three lives.

  3. Beat the clock

Keep sorting for 60 seconds. When time or lives run out, you see your score, accuracy and best streak.

Dropped an item outside the bins? No penalty. It springs back to the middle.

Your items and bins

Use your own products or packaging as items, rename the bins and write your own "Did you know?" tips.

Your round rules

Round length, number of lives and points per sort can be tuned to suit your event.

The demo uses emoji for item art. For a live campaign we replace it with art in your style, and we confirm the item list for your region before launch.

Where a recycling game fits best

Sort Trash suits any event where you want people to stop, play for a minute and walk away remembering your brand.

  • Trade show booths

A round lasts 60 seconds at most, so visitors take a turn, see their score and make room for the next person. Any screen with a browser will do.

  • Sustainability campaigns

A recycling game fits an environmental message naturally, and the tips on the results screen can carry your own message.

  • QR code and lead-generation activations

Share the game by QR code or link. Players open it in their browser with nothing to install. Ask us about connecting the score form to your lead list.
